Someone asked me the other night why some ambulances are yellow and some are white. I didn't know and directed them to answers.
Does anyone out there know?

This varies from area to area.Private Ambulance services mainly use white(basic color) they then add orange, yellow, blue ,red,or green stripes to their vehicles.
Fire departments use red,red/white,yellow,the neon green.Or a combo of these colors.
The main reason for the colors is for higher visibility.

Some are for local work ie trasporting invalids for treatment and some are for mostly accidents ie on motorways.Others are run by private companies, and vary more in colour

No reason it's just the color they painted it. Everybody has their opinion on what is the most visible color. There is no law or standard on what color they should be.
