My friend lives in New York, if they call me, will I be charged for long distance as well as my friend?

No. Only if it were a collect call or they were calling you on your cell phone.

On a landline - For you, No! and for your friend, maybe yes (unless he has it in his plan that allows him to make unlimited/limited long distance calls for no extra charge)

Cellphone - I guess it doesn't really matter. You are charged anyway (using up daytime mins or when you go over your limit - all unless you are talking during the 'free' hours).

By house phone, I'm assuming you mean a land line? Incoming calls are never charged on a land line, unless they are collect calls.

No, only if he calls you collect. The person making the call is charged.

No, you won't be charged. Whoever initiates the call is charged, unless they call collect.

No, your friend would be charged unless they called you collect.
