Ovulation test show LH surge before ovulation and do not show the actual ovulation date. Ovulation would usually occure 24-96 hours after the surge, depending on which Ovulation test you use. Read the directions to the ovulation kit, it will tell you how sensitive it is. The only way to actually confirm ovulation is by taking basal temperature. The actual ovulation lasts on average 12-24 hours, as an egg loses its fertility after 24 hours. Good luck!

Ovulation happens, it does not last. The OPK measures the LH surge, once the surge has occurred, it is in your system, no need to test again. Ovulation either has occurred, or will occur with in the next few hours. Done deal!!
