Hmmm, there are achievement credited to Arabs, and there were Empires in the region, but to the best of my knowledge, there was never an Islamic Empire. Ancient Egyptians are among those credited with great Astronomical, medical, and mathmatical knowledge. Islam is a religion that does not stretch that far back. Egyptians worshiped the Sun, Annubis, and other Gods, not a mono theism as current with Allah. There was a Persian Empire that was centrally controlled by modern day Iran, there was a Mongul Empire (that was for a time converted to Islam), under the son of Ghengis Khan. there was a Turkish Ottoman empire more recently. This area of the world will be central for about another 100 years, but historically so for as long as humans walk the Earth
