I am taking a part time position to spend more time with my six month old son. I am so excited because I am working full time right now and I don't feel like I have enough time with my baby. At my new job they are letting me pick my own hours as long as it is 20 hours per week and regular every week. What kind of hours would you choose if you had the choice? I could work four five hour days or two and a half days, etc. I am just looking for some different opinions.

I think it would depend on where you are working from. If you are able to work from home, I would choose to work 5 4-hour days as you could fit in the hours when baby sleeps. However, if you have to travel a long distance to get to work, it would make more sense to work longer hours for fewer days.
I have a 5 month old, and work 20-24 hours per week. My husband works a rotating shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) so no 2 weeks are ever the same for me. I work on the days he has off, and work 4 hours most days from home but one longer day in the office where I am away from home for 6-8 hours.
Good luck with the part-time job - you are able to have the best of both worlds!

If would depend on child care and if you are breast feeding. I think I would pick four 5 hour days so you aren't gone from your baby too long.

If possible, work evenings/nights when your baby would be asleep, and your hubby/mom/dad could be with there. It's great that you are trying to spend more time with your child, I wish more moms now-a-days felt that way.

if you can, work while your husband is home, or while the baby is sleeping.
