A movie! Whether it's a hilarious comedy, a nailbiting thriller, a romance, drama, sci-fi or fantasy film, if it's done well it's a great escape! For those two hours you become absorbed in the world on the screen. It takes you out of your own life. You can live vicariously through the characters, seeing things you would never see. Watching movies is perfect escapism. Reading is great too of course, but film is easier. It takes no effort. You just turn out the lights, crank the volume & let it unfold in front of you. I love a good laugh, a good cry, a good scare. I love being on the edge of my seat white-knuckled, wondering what's coming next.
I love to paint & to write songs too, but these don't really let me escape the world, just find a way to deal with it or express my feelings about it & my reactions to things that happen in my life. They're a form of therapy. I suppose I am relaxed & in a certain zone when I'm being creative. Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." I suppose art in all its forms (theatre, film, visual art, music etc) is the best escape. It delights, inspires, entertains and informs us. How bleak the world would be without it!

I have access to a couple of large pipe organs.....and when I've about 'had enough'....I play one or the other for an hour or so. It is very 'liberating' to touch a note with your foot and have the whole BUILDING shake. It is even MORE liberating to put on the 'full organ' and make the whole BLOCK shake. But it is soothing to put on a little flute stop, that you can hardly hear too. The instrument is so adaptible that it can 'fit' whateve mood you are in.

It depends, but reading, playing PSP, listening to music and answering questions have been my favorite ways last weeks. If I could I would scape for one whole week not only a couple of hours...

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel :) Or Find strength in weakness, find love in pain, find light in darkness (it's something like that, I don't remember the actual quote, but this is something I live by :]) :)

Reading a book I know I like. So I re-read some of my favourite books. A trick that always helps immensely.
