I suspect there are many "disciplines" that may be suggested.
Their disparity (if I'm correct) will be awesome. But it DOES take discipline, & it can be done. I'm not quite sure how I can explain this, it's a kind of "filter" in your mind. For me, I began by saying aloud, for example: FOCUS! What might be the consequence of this or that? Emotional, logical, spiritual, (not in the religious sense) & evaluate. After awhile, it becomes automatic. I "toss" negatives, I find alternatives, & while what works for me may not work for you, it's all I can offer. Some people have negative connotations about "control." But, if you're not in control, life can easily be utter chaos. & no one can truly tell you how to do this.

Patience is a start then learning how not to stress or worry. Learn to relax. Learn to be your own person and not a follower also helps to watch what you are thinking. I personally talk to myself when my mind is thinking crazy stuff. Even though I know that sounds crazy but it works. When something is really bothering me I take a deep breath then look in the mirror and tell myself to think logically and so on and so on. It works so what the hell. Once I felt like everything was going wrong and had been thinking what was wrong with me and why were these things happening until I sat down and told myself nothing is wrong with me and why was i sneviling and nothing was going to be right until I stopped tripping and that i was better than that . It worked , I got up and got things back on track. Your brain is like your computer it only does what it has been programmed to do and there are viruses and spam that you have to clean out every so often that get programmed without you wanting it too. I guess talking to my self is like cleaning out the registery and defragmenting and getting out all the adware and viruses. Now if i start answering myself like in a conversation then I might get worried but telling myself what to do and not do i think I am still normal.

It depends on what your really looking for because if you have a mental illness and your trying to fight it off then it will be hard if not impossible to do and if that the case you may need to see your Dr so they can put you on the right meds and if that not the case and your just looking for control of your mind then I agree with the others and let me know when you discover it. Good luck and it sounds like you need to find a friend to talk to.

Strange as it may seem you do have control of yourself. Just because you are not conscious of each and every determination still does not free you from the responsibility of deciding each and every time how and when and why you behave as you do. When your instincts tell you your bladder is full and the pressure and the urge is to... repress the instinct until you find the correct time and place and that is a decision you made. It is you who decides to follow Gods will by willing yourself to do so. And so it goes. Just spend more effort on self observation and act on the thoughts that need reacting to and let the others that aren't urgent do their way.

Very, very important question for ALL humans. Without control you lead a life filled with fear and confusion. try this http://www.sahajayoga.com/experienceitnow/text_only.asp And, look through the entire site as well, to get your "bearings". Also research meditation via esoteric buddhist and taoist methods.

I can not emphasize enough how crucial "mind control" is to a happy and fullfilled life. Do not procrastinate on this. In addition, regular exercise and yoga and tai chi help alot. Best of luck!! :))

I sense your pain. I dont think anyone controls or in a sense has conscious thought of what thier next thought is going to be ALL of the time. We all nod off in daydreams throughout the day, its a natural process. I think you are noticing yourself doing this and think you are loosing control and get freaked out. When that happens, just let that thought go and say, oh i was daydreaming again and then you conciously think about something you Want to think about in your higher mind or your "Control Mind".

self discipline can give you complete bodily control (adrenaline, endorphin e.t.c.) Control of your Mind comes through control of your body if your body is pumped full of adrenaline it is extremely hard to sit still. In an Attempt to filter thoughts from your mind you bring them back to haunt you when you resist something you give it power over you. 'The Master said "when ever a priest comes to see me he talks of nothing but sex, yet when prostitutes comes to see me, they talk of nothing but religeon".'
