Not always. But when it is, it's acknowledging there is no power or authority to ones opinion. Interesting that the phrase 'It's none of YOUR business' is almost never followed by a 'but'

I don't know... I don't think it's necessarily a "bad" thing though. At least the person is acknowledging the fact that they really don't have a say in the matter... "...but here's what I think anyhow..." Sorta like the phrase, "Well if you ask me" - even when nobody asked. :) Everyone has an opinion and most are all too eager to share it. Hmm...much like on Yahoo! Answers! Ha! :) All in fun!

So that you can't answer with, "It's none of your business." Just getting that fact out of the way early so that maybe you'll hear them out, even though they probably have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

because if they didnt want to know they would not have said "It's none of my business" in the first place. You can agree with them and not tell them the information they want.

"It's none of my business" is just the entro to minding someone elses' business...we know what's coming when we hear that BUT,,,,,It is almost like an oxymoronism phrase, huh?
