then how is it when one opposes the mission in Iraq they are supporting terrorism.
I was under the impressiont that the war in afghanistan was about combating terrorism, I am yet to see a post opposing that particular war.

Meathook, the article cites an article taken from a sampling of 5000 out of a population of 27 million, these 5,000 were from the same area. I would be wiling to consider are more diverse sampling. However my point was not hey how is it going in iraq? It was more or less a question of what was going on in the minds of those who say opposing a war in iraq is siding with Terrorists.

Now its because the terrorists have moved to Iraq. If we leave Iraq, they will come here. Personally, I think if they want to come here, they will whether we are in Iraq or not. I can't wait to hear the next excuse. Can you? That would be a good question on here. What do you think will be the NEXT new reason we are in Iraq?
Everyone knows why we went to Afghanistan, nobody knows why we didn't stay there and finish it.

The war in Iraq has never been about liberating the people.
It was about Bush getting into history books as "Great" and Cheney helping Haliburton steal more money, and about Rumsfeld getting to put bases in the area.
If you recall, among the lies the Bush administration was telling during the build-up to the war, was the one about how Bin Laden and Hussein were in cohoots in planning 9/11.
Actually, there were some Americans opposed to murdering innocent Afghans in retaliation for 9/11 -- I was one of them.
Most people felt that removing the Taliban, who had supported and helped Bin Laden was just.
Of course, we're now letting them retake Afghanistan, so I can't say that's been a Mission Accomplished either.
If we hadn't started bombin innocent people, we would have -- with the help of people all over the world -- caught Bin Laden, and in many ways reduced the threat of terroristm all over the world.
But, without terrorism, Bush Co. wouldn't have the built-in justification for every immoral act it feels like committing, and they would have hated that.

At this point pulling out of Iraq would be irresponsible. It would create mayhem and another power vacuum that would only be filled by a local warlord, and probably based on anti-western sentiments. Opposition to current peace keeping efforts in Iraq could be construed as supporting the likely terrorist sympathising regime that would follow an American withdrawl.

Because the war in Afghanistan is so self evident about the cause and goals that no Bush hater could be found credible if the opposed it. Now the war in Iraq is a different story. Its easy to find fault because it is such a big country with so much space and so many people that its easy for misinformation to come out and be misused. Just look at this poll by the London Times and tell me what you think about the US efforts.

Opposition to war does not mean that it is terrorism. The war is always not the right remedy to curtail violence because there are many other ways to solve terrorism.

Yes it is....Terrorists are roaming the country..Most from neighboring countrues..Iran, Syria for example....or they are training and supporting the Iraqi insurgents
So if you oppose us fighting terrorism...you might as well be one of them, as you are giving them comfort which is aiding them
