I have been on the pill for 2 months now, and I am going to start taking Metronidazole, an antibiotic. How long after I finish this antibiotics will the pills not work? How long afterwards will I have to use a back-up birth control method?

Metronidazole is not an antibiotic, it is an antifungal medication commonly used for bacteria vaginosis. I have used it before and it never interfered with my birth control.

Start using back up, when you start taking the antibiotic and continue using it as long as you are on the medication and until your period after you stop taking it and you should be ok

I think the rule of thumb is that antibiotics can remain in your system 10 days - 2wks after you stop taking them. So you'll need your back-up method that entire time.
