DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol it's a service found in Microsoft operating systems for assigning ip's automatically for a network you don't have to enter ip address when u have DHCP on a server ur connected to ..the server will automatically assign ip for you ,, u can turn dhcp on by simply turning off ip address from network connection properties where u select "obtain Ip address automatically"

Every computer on a network needs a unique address to connect. A dhcp server manages each address to ensure no 2 computers have the same.
