If you are going to be visiting wilderness areas, campgrounds in mountainous areas, even national parks, then I would suggest a vehicle that is 28ft or less in length. A 20 to 28 ft motorhome with a slideout will give you a lot of space. Deciding exactly which size will center on floorplans and how much space you feel is comfortable for your needs. The reason is, many of the areas that are in rural and wilderness areas cannot take vehicles longer than 30 feet or so, some more, but with a 28ft or shorter vehicle you should be able to get in most anywhere.

Get one that has plenty of storage underneath, and make sure things are easy to access, like the propane tanks. Check out the size of the blackwater and grey water tanks, and the important one .. size of hot water heater. Getting one where both the refrigerator and hot water tank work on either electric or propane is highly recommended, but always turn off propane while traveling. The fridge will stay cold if you pack it well.

If you are going for more than two weeks, and since money isn't an issue, skip the camper van and go for a motorhome, or a truck and fifth wheel. Motorhome is easier to set up and take down than a fifth wheel, but having a truck to go sightseeing in can be advantageous. It's all a matter of preference and intended use.

As far as make, model, visit some RV forums and read them and post answers there. You will get much advice.

Have fun!

you should get the dodge caravan. but why not a jeep like a hummer, dodge ram, a land or range rover, etc. try to find something with room that is not a gas guzzler if you're worrying about gas prices
