I need help wid 2 chemistry questions

1) Discuss the necessity of standards.
2) Why do scientists use STP? (atleast 2 reasons)

say the general answer to the 2 questions first and then add what r the necessities of STP in gases, vol, temp, pressure. And why do scientists use STP in gases, vol, temp, pressure.

The reason that we have standards is because we need to have something to compare changes in things with. for example STP, standard temperature pressure, is 760 mm Hg(millimeters of mercury) @ 25 degrees celcius. if we wanted to determine the pressure at 30 degrees, we woul dcompare it to 760 mm Hg.

As far as why scientists use STP, i can't think of any reasons right off hand other than maybe when dealing with chemical reactions.
