When the Spurs fan ran onto the pitch at the end of the Spurs vs Chelsea, he was finally restrained on the floor by the stewards and surrounded by a number of Chelsea players. However, you can clearly see that Drogba, Mikel and Ashley Cole kick him when the stewards are holding him down. Obviously I accept that the fan was stupid to run onto the pitch and try to punch Frank Lampard, but should these players be punished for their cowardly reaction, and Chelsea charged with being unable to control their players?

And the clips shown on Sky Sports News today show a different camera angle, and you can clearly see Frank having a sly kick as well.

Yes they should, they're supposed to be professionals and should have let the stewards and the police deal with it.

I was going to answer this with a, yes they should be punished. But I got caught up in the nicknames people have for two of the three players allegedly involved. Dogbreath, Cashley, Assley and a Bertusi. I would have liked to have seen someone put a Zidane on any of them. I'm glad they're in second, proves you can't buy yourself a title. I don't like Manure all that much either, but I sure hope they meet at Wembley in May, and I look forward to seeing Ronaldive, doing a triple somersault into an arkward swan deep in Chelsea's box, no pun intended, and putting the Cup winning penalty past Cech. It'll be goodbye Morewhining and the whole stinking lot to Madrid, where they can be second place to Barca, and good riddance.

Yes they should. The fan running on it a berk and deserves a good kicking though but let the authorities do that...
But the job of the stewards is to apprehend fans before they get to the players, so Spurs should have to play behind closed doors for a game as punishment for failing to control their fans.
As for the 3 Chelsea players if they have kicked him they should be reported to the police for assault if it is proved they kicked him. If the police are involved, the FA will get involved and will hand out a punishment. They should learn that their job is to kick the football not the fans (a la Cantona!!)

lets face it what that spurs fan did was stupid whether the Chelsea players taunted them or not. the security at the lane did let the guy through but its not easy to stop an angry mob with just a few guys in hi vis gear. when that guy went to clock lampard it is violent act and lampard should rightly lamp him back for (couldn't resist the pun sorry!) purely as self defence. but as for the others kicking the man when hes being squashed by the security guards that s not right. its not a fair fight. sticking up for your team mate or not. what would happen if the steward got kicked accidently by the players. its a lawsuit waiting to happen. but players dont learn unless you make examples of someone. bet none of them have missed their drugs tests.

Drogba, Mikel and Ashley cole got no rights to kick the spurs fan. It is the stewards' and the police's business to handle such fans.
Who the chelsea players think they are?

I saw Drogba, Mikel and Cole kicking the fan and I thought it was absolutely disgusting.. the stewards are obviously holding him down and there was no way in hell that he was going to be able to escape and get a hold of Lampard. I really think they should be punished because they are professionals and they are supposed to act like it.

Wow, I knew the spectator ran onto the pitch to try to hit Lampard but didn't know that those three players did that. If so, then yes they should be answerable and punished with a match ban. That's not acceptable from professional players at any time let alone against some **** that was already restrained and contained by ground staff. That's disgraceful.

i imagine he likely did say something as a) video information will teach it if he hasn't and b) the racism scandal has been fantastically embarrassing for Chelsea FC and with assistance from dragging it out it really is in person-friendly words including to their embarrassment. even if, i think if the Chelsea gamers were mendacity they deserve punishing yet regrettably i'm particular they're going to receive a minimum punishment if any in the journey that they are mendacity.

Yes I totally agree with you, BUT, you must know by now, that whatever chelski do wrong, from the manager down to the players nothing much seems to happen to them as punishment. Well not when you compare what happens to other Football Clubs in the same situation.

I think so or the next time the fan will be prepared to do battle, which is bad for everyone- especially the athlete. The fan was out of line, the situation however was under control;these players allowed their emotions to rule them - some action needs to be taken.
