Negativity of human nature
- The children become progressively violent as order is lost
- Their fears become a monsterous creature
- They become primal and beast like
- The resort to thieving to gain what they want (the fire)
- The murder out of craziness (Simon trying to warn them, they think he's a monster)
- They just plainly commit murder (Piggy)
- The book basically says that without order, even the most innocent (children), will return to a savage state where all that matters is food and a primal hierachy is structered by who is the bravest/ killed the most/ shows most strength. Obviously when the children are found, it is clear that they are not as innocent or naive as they were when they first landed on the island. (negative human behaviour will run free when not bound by the laws of a society)

Just reflect on how the "leaders" acted, even at their age--like the little animals they were. Egos were out of control. Pathology was rife. Compassion was unknown. midget nazis in training.

And then realize that the emotional age, and maturity level of most of the world's leaders are flawlessly represented by these pre-teens. Don't think so? Think again!! Just because someone is wealthy and "powerful" is no guaranty of true maturity, And, in fact, is often a definite guaranty, especially in this society, of pathology and ignorance :))

This should be very easy. It's virtually the basis of the entire book. Think about how the characters put themselves ahead of the group at various points. Almost like an every-man-for-himself philosophy.
