Life magazine published on their cover the historical photograph of “The Irascibles,” which includes Pousette-Dart, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and other artists in 1951. The first person to send me a link directly to this cover get's ten points and a big thank you!

I searched the cover archives from 1936 to 1975 looking for Pollock, irascibles and artists, and it kept coming up with 0 hits. I searched the same period for Tintorettto, the Dalai Lama and John F. Kennedy, and it brought up results, so the search feature does seem to be working correctly, but it was unable to find a cover like you described.

I looked through those, too, and didn't see anything like that photo.
