I was in Auburn, Alabama this week and saw white budded or flowered trees about mid-sized and very full in foliage and flower. Anybody know what this was?

That was most likely a Bradford Pear tree. I live in Alabama and they are all in bloom around here. The dogwood trees will be blooming soon. They are white and pretty too.
