If it is still wet, first grab some paper towels and blot up as much of it as you can. For either a wet or dry urine spot, you want to be sure that you get the smell out of your carpet as completely as possible otherwise you might find that your dog will urinate in that spot again.
Any local petstore, like a PetSmart, should carry several brands of enzymatic cleaners that are made specifically to eliminate the smell of pet urine (such as Nature's Miracle). You just follow the directions on the bottle, although you sometimes may need to apply several applications. For the best results, particularly since the urine most likely has not only gotten to your carpet, but also to any padding that may be underneath it, I'd recommend saturating the area with the enzymatic cleaner, covering it with Saran wrap or a plastic garbage bag, covering the plastic with something heavy and then letting it sit overnight. That will really give the cleaner time to work on eliminating the odor. In a pinch, you can try this with white vinegar, but I've found that the other products are more effective.
Once you've gotten rid of the smell, if you have a visible stain, there are also pet-specific products for this, but any old household carpet and upholstery stain remover should do, such as OxyClean.

Well cleaning is just blotting it with warm water. Your going to have a hard time getting urine out a carpet. It's not your typical stain and odor.
Get a big ol' bottle of mint mouth wash dilute it with water(2:1) and spray down the carpet, wash the area with a carpet cleaner, spary down with mint mouth wash, clean and repeat until smell and stain is gone.
I had a problem like this, tried every thing on the market and nothing worked. The mouth wash is the only thing that worked!

Unfortunately, not only was the odor on top of your carpet, but it's also in the pad and the concrete/wood below that. You can eliminate the spot and odor from the carpet fibers, but that odor will most likely continue to haunt you, especially if you live in a humid area. Hopefully, the area your dog chose to do his thing is on the perimeter of the room so that you can pull up just a small portion of carpet and replace the padding underneath and seal the concrete/wood area. Hope your puppy is now housebroke.

Nothing to it. Go to the Pet store and buy a shaker can of OdorBGone, it is a bacteria laten powder that eats up the dog smell and especially it is good for dog urine on a carpet. Shake it on, work it with a broom a bit, wait couple hours, vacuum it and GONE IS THE URINE ODOR.

Go to a pet shop or grocery store and get Oxiclean for carpets to remove pet stains. Works really great.

Use a product that breaks down the enzymes, like Natures Miracle. i'm also an organization believer that everybody with a puppy could personal a Bissel Spot Bot. They make a particular "puppy" formulation for it - you position it down instantaneous, push a button and it does each of the scrubbing / sucks up each of the liquid for you.
