Yes it is possible. Get some free downloads on these URLS. Also do a defrag and clean files too. Also, go to RUN, then type msconfig . Now in the startup windows you can do away with a lot of start up programs, life hp updates which run in the background. All these just take a little memory but add up. And next time list your computer. Your Pentium 3 may not be that hot. lol

Check the download section at these sites for some free downloads. Also bookmark them and you can learn about computers.

Sure spy ware is notorious for slowing down a pc. Run a spyware scan (obviously...lol) if no change then try deleting the temporary internet files. if no change then try a sys defrag. These are the most common causes of slow running PC's. Beyond that your hard drive may have bad sectors, or it could be your ISP's fault ( may be worth checking with them)

Run "Disk Cleanup" and sparkling all undesirable documents. Run "Defragment" to manage all documents on force. The force exhibiting interest for the time of no utilization might mean a secret agent ware or trojan on the force attempting to acces that is grasp, set up and run SpySweeper after taking all updates. The trial version will do a marvelous interest. improve the RAM as suggested in the previous to get a marginal greater advantageous velocity. If the motherboard helps then attempt to get a swifter processor. *EDIT* AdAware sucks, use SpySweeper it far greater advantageous at detecting trojans and keyloggers. Defragmenting is hassle-free - commence > courses > Acessories > equipment tactics > Disk Defragmenter > decide on force

Do you have good virus, spyware and adware protection? If so, have you run the programs lately and do you regularly look for updates? Some people forget to update their program while the bad guys are working all the time to get around the protection. www.znet.com is a good place to go for shareware.

could be spyware or adware or even malware which is pretty vicious and causes sporadic behaviors...

try downloading this free for thirty days, AVG anti-spyware and then run a scan and it will scan all your registry files, system files and application to find problems if any....

(This software has been highly recommended by PC Magazine last month)....

If you have already run the spyware scans listed by others, check the "my computer" window and check to see what your CPU speed is.

Some machines may reset your 'front side bus' speed to default if your machine has a problem, which can nuke the speed of your CPU, and therefore your computer's performance.
