Is it because it irritates the cervix? What exactly is it about sex that is supposed to make labor start if you are close to your due date?

Also, the contracting muscles in the abdomen that you experience during orgasm can trigger labor muscles to contract as well. Just make sure hubby knows it's not enough to do the deed, he has to make sure you get your O too or he's gonna have to do a "do-over"!

Sperm also contribute to thinning the mucous membranes, but the first answer I gave you is license to encourage hubby to make it more FUN!

Sperm 'aint got nothing to do with it. As "jhvnmt" mentioned in the first paragraph, that's what gets it going. Of course, the male has to properly induce the "O" in order to effect the rhythmic contractions needed for labor.

There is a certain hormone in the sperm that apperently can help thin the merbranes and help induce labour. Didn't work with either of my babies! Good luck

I read that in a medical book before tho.
It just does.
But i dont think you need to do it.
The baby will just come out when the baby is ready.
Drink green tea too, it helps.

Sperm has something in it that softens the cervix.
