Ok... being around the right people is very fun and not so hard to do. If you don't have many friends, then join activities, clubs, sports, etc. If you're in school, do as many activities as you can without taking on too much. If your a young adult, take a class... like scuba diving, painting, a foreign language or an exercise class... this gets you around the same people on many occasions so you can get acquainted.
Read the book "how to make friends and influence people" it's really old, but still very true. It takes only a few basic skills.
Talk to a therapist or counselor before you try medication... medication won't teach you the skills to relate to other people.

Hi--I had a "classic" case of a man who felt he was anti-social, & had been all of his life. His GP had prescribed prozac--good grief, & he'd become increasingly irritable. In my opinion, prozac should NOT be used for a "personality" trait. Fortunately, we had a very good rapport, & I suggested he get off the prozac & explore exactly what his "negative" feelings were about not being social. I am NOT saying this applies to you--but the reality is, he was perfectly content in his own (very creative!) world; he simply felt pressured by others. There is nothing "wrong" about not being social, unless you feel IN YOURSELF that you need/want to change. If this is true of you, I suspect you'll get lots of advice how to become more social, so I needn't say more.

very good question. sometimes in order to acheive something we want to have we have to do something we don't want to do. you have to pick yourself up and start somewhere. bake some cookies for a neighbor, if your in school join a club, if your an adult there must be someone at work you can talk to. don't make it seem obvious. just walk up to them and ask them a question. complement them. introduce yourself. if you are around the age where you dont' have a job then go take a walk. you will get it.

Being social isn't everything it's made out to be. People suck, you don't want to hang with them too much.
