i have never realized that but what i have realized in the locker room at the gym is that most straight guys look at you to check if you are looking at them. And not because they may feel intimidated but as a way of measuring their own beauty or if the results of working out really show

Wow, dude, why in the world would you refer to something as awesome as the penis and scrotum as "junk"?
There's a whole lot of reasons why guys check each other out in the locker room.
They might be gay and it would make just as much sense for them to look at a naked guy as it would for a straight guy to look at a naked girl (that's just common sense). Straights REALLY need to stop acting like they are the only ones sharing this planet.
There's not much opportunity for men to see each other naked, and many insecure guys might take a peek at another guy to see if they measure up (there's a lot of insecurity about size because most pornos feature men who are above average size and this tends to cause insecurity in an amazing number of guys because pornos are usually the only place they see naked men to compare themselves to).
They are simply admiring each other's physique - after all, that's the point of going to a gym, to make a body for guys to be jealous of (since most women aren't anywhere as interested in it as guys are, and girls don't look at men the way men think they are looking at them).
It's an ego thing.
But basically, it's a human thing. We've all got bodies, we're all interested in bodies, and I think everyone's low self esteem and homophobia is getting a little out of hand when someone freaks out just because someone looked at them. As I always say, if you go out in public, be prepared to be looked at. If a hot guy is gonna go out in public with no shirt and skimpy shorts, I'm gonna look, and they are extremely ignorant if they think that the only people looking at them are girls. Besides, I NEVER presume anyone is straight. As far as I am concerned everyone is gay unless proven innocent (ooops, I mean straight). If I find out they are straight, I respect that.
