Our leopard gecko has changed her eating habits drastically. When we first got her she ate quite a bit. Now she is eating less and we are very worried about her. She is not old, maybe a year and a bit. Is this a sign that she is ready to bread. Her size has not changed at all, she is quite chubby. Any help would be appreciated.

How often and how much are you feeding her? You could be feeding het to much. They store fat in their tails. Also if she's ready to shed she will stop eating. I've been raising and breeding leos for 5 years now. If you have any other questions feel free to email me. brandibear1983@yahoo.com

My leopard gecko has a tupperware with a door cut in and the lid on. I put a little vermiculite or bedding in there and moisten it. I then set the whole thing on top of a heater that is of low-medium temp. My gecko likes it in there a lot. It helps them shed and be happy.
And geckos can go without food, sometimes mine wont eat the crickets at all. Try small crickets, mealworms, waxworms
a variety. Most like live things and waxworms are more calories, also they make a dust that you sprinkle on the crickets/mealworms that give more nutrients.
Some geckos like a drip-water system instead of a dish, so look into a drip system at the petstore. They have everything from fancy set ups to a jug with a small tap that you slightly open to allow the water to drip down onto the leaves.

If she is fat she has enough stores to keep her going and she does not need t eat as much. Further to that it is probably cold in your part of the world and therefore they will not eat as much anyway. The reptiles have a habit of doing this in cycles. No need to worry.

well during the winter most reptiles don't eat as much this may be the cause I doubt it is about to breed but when a reptuile has any large change in its behavior this can also be a sign that it is sick, I would bring it to a herp vet near you just to be sure.

she might be getting ready to shed her skin. we had one of those in my bio class, and my teacher said something about that, how the eating habits change, and its behavior when its getting ready to shed.
