there is a saying here in my part of the world, a rough translation would be "too much sugar just makes you sick"

In a girl, yes, particularly when it's mixed up with a sassy attitude. The combination makes her sexier somehow.
In a guy, yes. But as long as he's not sweet all the time, to everyone. Only if he's sweet to the one person he finds really attractive.

No, not particularly. Sweet is very nice but implies it can be a bit sickly after after a while and also I find that people use it to describe people who they consider not to have much to say. Its almost an offhand remark, oh, she/he's sweet as if they have no other qualities. But hows a sweet thing like me giving an opinion? :)

I used to think it was, but "sweet" isn't real. It's not your true self. You can only be sweet for a little while, but then your real feelings and emotions will be revealed. Its better to just be yourself then try to be sweet. Sweet is great, but Id rather meet who you really are on the inside.

It depends. If you're too sweet, it can be a little sickening, pathetic, and/or phony. You have to have just the right amount of "sweetness" in order for it to be attractive.

No I don't i think it can be patronising in some cases.

In most ways it is used as a term of affection.

Lovely, beautiful are terms I consider to be used for a attractive person. Hunk for a male. Today some say 'Fit' for both sexes

There's a time and a place for everything. Sweet is good but not in the bedroom.

i think it is attractive to an extent, but from my experiences sometimes it can be to much and you start to doubt whether this person is for real or not and kind of puts you off after a while.
