What could explain the reason why the ageostrophic wind component might decrease when the pressure increases?

My guess is that as the press gradient increases, wind speed increases, and coriolis increases. The latter will tend to bring the wind back into geostrophic equilibrium. But once again you caught me late at night. I'm 67. I need some sleep. I may be dreaming this.
