Many women do not have a regular period for the first few years. Talk to some of your girlfriends and you will see that some didn't start out regular, and still might not be. When you do have your periods, are they especially long (more than 7 days), painful or heavy? Call your doctor clinic and ask to speak to the OB/Gyn nurse... You can do this on your own, and ask that your parents not be involved unless you need to be seen.

If you are just starting your period for the first time (meaning like within the past year) irregular periods are very common as the body tries to adjust itself. If it's been a few years since you first started having your periods it could be a hormone imbalance.

Pls let your mom know that you have a concern that is embarrassing to you but you need to talk to her about it, and also talk to your dr.

Your system is just getting started.

Don't be embarrassed. It might be a good thing to discuss with your mom, but I think you'll find that many girls in their mid teens will have irregular cycles that take some months to years to settle down.

Your mom might well have had the same trouble. (..or not)

But the benefit of talking with your mom is that eventually if it carries on for a long time you and your mom might want to discuss seeing a doctor.

I've always heard that it's normal for teenage girls to have somewhat irregular periods. But if it were more than that, it might be that you are not eating properly or enough. Like people with eating disorders stop having periods because they are so undernourished. Could this be the case with you?

You will be irregular for a while. I was always irregular. I didn't become regular until I started birth control. You should talk to your mom. Don't be embarrassed. She has been through the same thing as you. :)

Did you just start tour period? like at the age of 14? because if u started at 14.. and ur 15.. maybe ur body is just in the process of ur cycle.. dont worry about anything..as long as you know U didn't do anything with anyone...ur fine.. but if it still occurs for more than a year..see a doc. or summin...

When you are young your periods can be irregular. It's nothing to worry about yet so don't worry unless you have any other symptoms like foul discharge or severe cramping. Don't be embarassed to talk to your mom.... she's been through it too and it's good to be able to talk openly so initiate it!
