I know you can buy them separately but is there any way to tell if my comp. already has one inside it?

read the front of the drive, if it says DVD on it (usualy on the left hand side) then it is a DVD drive and if it also has RW in a rectangle on it (usualy on the right hand side) then it is a DVD burner...alternatively you can go into the device manager in your computer (found through right clicking on my computer and clicking on the hardware tab and clicking the device manager button) and looking at the product code of the drive under the CD/DVD drive drop out and typing it into google or going to the manufacturers website and searching it on there you will be ale to find out exactly what sort of burner (DualLayer, Super Multi, Lightscribe) it is and what types of disks it can burn to

Also for the person below me...RW with CDs means rewritable which means that you can burn to the disk and then erase it and burn to it again

yes mine does when i got it i asked if it has an dvd and cd rw rw means read and write wich means u can burn disks

If you have one, your CD drive should say DVD and RW on it...
