Your Drive may have problem with the Burning software you're using--most likely Nero. You need to update Nero to the latest version or use another burning software. Don't run AnyDvD, Nero InCD or anything like that in the background while using Nero. Use the free Imgburn or something like that.

It's not a hard drive it's a burner. Second, are you using some burn software like Roxio or Nero? Did the burner come with a installation disk for the software?
Are there any errors in the USB part of device manager? Right click My Computer, select properties. Then select Hardware. Finally click Device Manager button. Scroll down and look for any device that has been expanded and has a yellow or red symbol on it. If not, is the drive even seen by the OS? Right Click Start and select explore. Is the drive there? Is the device powered on? If still got issues take it back and get them to show you it works.

Hi,

First off, the % is a delimiter (used for identifying the path of the file within your system), so of course, you won't be able to find it. Second, I think your problem is that you're buying DVD/CD's that are uncapable of speeds your DVD-R can record, so you should try and set the record speed according to your CD/DVD's specifications (it should say in the cover of the blank CD/DVD's what recording speeds are supported). Generally speaking, 20x for CD's and 8x for DVD's is pretty much the safest way to record without the recorder skipping any part of files being written.

The % sign is a 'filler' for a variable, meaning the computer knows something is missing,it just dosen't know what.
I would reccomend trying several different files,if that fails reinstall your operating system,in your case, probably Windows,if you want to switch I would reccomend Linux.
I also reccomend you contact memorex for money that you lost burning those discs.

Edit:Sorry,% is the root of your drive,I have not used windows in forever.
