As the earth moves in orbit around the sun, it's night side faces different parts of the galaxy. Depending on the time of the year, that night side will face different constellations.

Because the Earth goes around the sun during the year.
Imagine this: the stars are painted on the walls of your room. In the middle of the room is the sun (put a yellow ball there). Going around the sun is the Earth (put a small ball near the sun). When you are on the Earth, and the Sun is shining on you, you can't see the stars -- it's daytime. Now spin the Earth ball around half-way, so that's it's night time where you are. You can see the stars, but only the stars that are on the same side of the room as the Earth is from the sun.
Six months later, the Earth will be on the other side of the Sun, and you will be able to see another set of stars.

The Earth is moving around the Sun. At one time of the year, we see certain constellations, and the others are up at the same time the sun is, so the sun blocks them out. But half a year later, the sun is blocking the original constellations and we can see the others.
Try drawing yourself a picture if that was confusing.

The stars and constellations themselves don't change positions, but because Earth is tilted about 23-degrees on its rotational axis their apparent positions change from month to month. This tilt is the same thing that causes the sun to rise farther south in the winter than in the summer when it's more nearly overhead. Earth's seasons also result from that axial tilt.

since the earth rotates the sun yearly and spins once on it's axis daily, the stars appear in different locations during the year.
