A Dental Dam may be used to prevent transmission of bodily fluids
What is a dental dam and why should I use one?
Dental dams are small, thin, square pieces of latex that are used for oral-vaginal or oral-anal sex. They get their name from their use in dental procedures. Dental dams help to reduce the transmission of STIs during oral sex by acting as a barrier to vaginal and anal secretions that contain bacteria and viruses. They come in a variety of sizes and flavors - so you can find a dam that satisfies your tastes.
How effective are they in preventing STIs?
Because dental dams act as a barrier to bodily fluids, they help reduce STI transmission. Many STIs, such as herpes, genital warts and HIV, can be transmitted through oral sex. Like condoms, dental dams must be used correctly and consistently in order to be effective.

Good question! Safe sex is important for everyone, regardless of gender or orientation. Although lesbian sex STD transmission rates are lower than those in other groups, they still exist.
Lesbians should be sure to use condoms on all sex toys that they employ, and change the condoms when they change the person they're being used on, to stop cross-contamination. Dental dams or Saran wrap should be used for cunnilingus and analingus, and latex gloves should be worn when touching the genitals with the hands. If women take all three of these precautions, they should be pretty well-covered in terms of safety.
Hope that helps!
Edit: Leavemebe, I know, I know, they definitely aren't sexy . . . but neither is a very unattractive vaginal discharge from a bad run-in with an STD. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice the sexy for safety and health.

Very easy. They first get to know each other. Then they get tested for STDs. Now that everything checks out then they have sex. Well, not necesarily in that order.
Here is the trick. They stay in a commited relationship.
You can also wear gloves. Hands count you know.

I have never heard of a documented case of HIV conversion with lesbian sex. But for other STD's? Dental damns, etc.

Using a dental dam and getting tested regularly. Asking their partners about their status as well. Also, proper cleaning and use of toys.

There are such things as dental dams, some use gloves (for fingers) etc. Just think about what you think we do, then think of a way to cover it up, and there you have it!
