If so, what rights and responsibilities would you be most seeking?

If not, why not?

within 2 years? we'd get married in 2 seconds if we could! we are registered domestic partners, and we've had a commitment ceremony, but we want to have the same rights any straight couple is entitled to...and not be separate but not equal with "civil union."
I do, fortunately, work for a company that has domestic partner benefits and I can provide health insurance to my partner.

Honestly neither one of us is interested in "marriage." We do, however, feel that the rights proffered on marriage should be available to all. After 15 years in this relationship our financial and familial ties are so intertwined that if marriage were available we would probably do it to secure those rights if that were the only way.

Yes. We got married in New York (of course it's not legally recognized yet) but we'd LOVE to make it legal and have the same rights as any legally married couple. If nothing else, we are officially married in all of the bonds of LOVE. Even the laws and bigotry cannot stop that.

It is availible to me...and I am!

We have all state level rights. we are able to put eachother on health insurance, visit eachother in the hospital, have children together and both provide for them, etc. Now I wish we had federal rights as well. I know that - in hopefully many years - when one of us passes away the federal government is going to come and take a large chunk of everything we have worked for together. They do not recognize our union so they will take a "share" that is not really thiers.

My partner moved to Vermont from Atlanta, Georgia two years ago. We moved here because her mom lives here and was not doing well. We got our civil union before we had been here a full month. I make all medical decisions for her should she be incapacitated and her for me, same sex adoption is allowed here, and it is mandatory for insurance companies in Vermont to offer insurance for both as a married couple. We file state taxes together and in the community are viewed as we should be, a married couple.

I'm not in a relationship with a girl right now, but I can answer the second part of the question. I'd want to be afforded the same rights that traditional couples get. If she had a kid, and then she died, I'd want to raise it, and vice versa. I'd want to be able to own a house with her. If she died, I'd want the spousal support, and if I died, she'd get mine. Etc., etc.

What rights and responsibilities? All of them.

The idea of living with a guy----totally turns me off...But we could still be married, just not live together (LOL)--I am serious about that! By the way we would definately be sharing health and benefits and all the hoopla that married couples obtain when they are one.

It IS available NOW. And no, I would not marry a same-sex partner if I had one. I see no point in marrying someone who is only going to lie and cheat on me and then drag me through the divorce courts with the intention of getting half of everything I own.
