if you are asking for the stupidest reason,would be.....war of 1812 i mean if ALL MIGHTY ENGLAND couldn't defeat lonely little america why come back and try again..just stupid
now i also think the war we're in now is stupid, not because of the reason,but we're fighting with rules. Back in WWII we dropped the atom because we could basically do whatever we wanted to, but now we can't because we have stupid "rules" i hope that solves all your problems with the Iraqi war....also we just didn't go in there to be mean,it's just the press distorting everything that goes on ...we went in with a reason,to take out Saddam Hussein (excuse my spelling)
and to react to 9/11 and to show that we can't be brought to our knees...but now there are more problems and we just can't get the job done...for some reason know only to the FBI CIA and other government peeps.
WE JUST NEED TO FINISH FASTER...NOT PULL OUT!!!

I suspect George Washington thought the Whiskey Rebellion was pretty stupid. To risk the success of a new nation over the matter of taxing distilled spirits was quite foolish.

In our other wars, however unwise or unjust, there was always some definable purpose in the interests of the US. That leaves Iraq.

this war in Iraq---so DUMB! also, unkind, pointless, and harmful in so many ways.
war of 1812---didn't solve any problems, and only lost our chance of getting Canada.
