Almost nothing will so help you as good reading and writing skills. Read as much as you can; read things you find hard to read. Work for your high school newspaper, or yearbook or just write fiction as a hobby. It doesn't matter if you intend to major in English or Mathematics, this will be important to you.

Good luck.

Relax, theres nothing more annoying than meeting new people which are stressed and take everything seriously.

You will meet someone which you will like straight away, and they will be mates for a long time, you are need them as much as they need you.
