I don't think anyone REALLY knows what it is exactly that makes you a top contributer. I became one about 2 days after the dumb orange bar showed. I was already answering alot and getting best answers. I think you need a good combination of the both.

Answer alot of question,for one category.
Like most people on Poll and survey got a top contributor,because they answer like thousands of question.
Dedicate yourself to one category!

Just answer questions, it doesn't matter what level you are on. Top contributor is calculated by how much not by what level.

Stay in one category, like polls & surveys. Answer as many questions as possible and vote for best and undecided answers. It's all about the points.

I have no idea to be honest, I just noticed today though that I am one, lol? All I did was kept answering questions all the time.

I think you have to get at least 100 best answers in a certain catagory.

Give up your life for awhile and do nothing but answer questions til you get to your desired points
