What I am saying is that people generalize that Japanese and Chinese people look the exact same way, talk the same kind of languages, and live the same ways. People that are somewhat alike, such as Chinese and Japanese people have fought freakin' war against one another.

Because that's just stereotyping.
People generalize Americans are ignorant, Brits as people with bad teeth, asians as smart, etc.
They believe what the media has said for ages about people.

Ignorance...
There has always been since the dawn of mankind , someone or other who wanted what someone else has.
why do you think the 10 commandments says "thou shall not covet"?..
and , in doing WAR is emanate..
also, what people do not understand, nor try to , they fear and in fearing try to conquer or destroy.
One assumes they are better by overcoming another..
I think there is a lot to be said in the scripture that says " the MEEK shall inherit the EARTH"..
it didn't say strong, or rulers, or bullies..
these cultures are different.. perhaps there may be some similarities.. all cultures have something similar..
especially when you look at their foods.. The flat bread / tortilla/ pita etc. is called many things in different cultures.. and , varied in preparation and taste.. thank goodness.. variety is the spice of life!!!! I am glad for it.. I love Chinese and Japanese foods, clothing, art, furniture etc. I wish i could go travel there..The people of both cultures are warm hearted , loving , graceful people . with tight family values and hard working.. I have been honored to have known many and friend to .

There are distinctive differences in Japanese features compared to Chinese features. Japanese do not like the Chinese and probably vice versa.

Because Racism is a deeply rooted problem in America and Europe. Look how they view the Africans or Native Americans if you want more examples. But it mainly has to do with Nationalism turning to Racism which likely turns to Radicalism.

blame it on ignorance. it's not limited to the chinese/japanese connection. i'm sure there are people out there who wouldn't know the difference between a german and a swiss, or a mexican and a puerto rican; thai/malaysian, etc. a solution would be to improve our educational system...

The reason for this is that people just can't see the difference themselves and are too ignorant to ask. So they just assume.

they are more similar than any other two countries besides us and canada and you gotta admit they look alike and do kung fu and their foods are nearly the same and the list goes on
