No, what we should do is change it from a certain age past which you can vote to a certain intelligence level past which you can vote. Or, better yet, allow everyone to vote but assign votes more or less value based on the intelligence and knowledge of the people who cast them.

The 26th amendment to the U.S. Constitution lowered the voting age to 18 several years ago. A low percentage of the 18 to 21 year old people ever exercise their right to vote. I believe it would be an exercise in futility to lower the age any further.

No. What would you lower it to ? I think it should be raised to 21. Let the kids get out of high school first and experience life for awhile and hopefully make more of an informed choice instead of what they may have been getting crammed down their throats for 18 years. This is not to say there aren't many 18 year olds capable of making an informed decision, but the way half these kids are today I wouldn't trust them flipping my burgers. They would rather vote on American Idol anyways.

How about no restrictions on voting age at all?

For what its worth - my ancestors were Cherokee Indians (Eastern Band - North Carolina), and in their culture, everyone - regardless of age - could vote on every issue.

Their communities were never bigger than about 500 people because their council houses had to contain enough seats for everyone, since everyone had a vote.

They seemed to get along for hundreds of years very well with no voting age limit - until, of course, they caught smallpox and had their property stolen from them.

Just an opinion.

Hell no.

All too many 18 year olds aren't mature enough to vote for the right person. They are only interested in partying and in so many cases getting high.

No. The voting age should be kept at adults only (18+) as childern aren't reponsible enough to make national decisions like that.

I think as soon as you start paying taxes you should be able to vote.
most don't pay taxes until they are 18- but I don't know about the teens/kids who make money before they are 18. I'm thinking more the artistic youths who make a decent amount of money, especially for their age

As much as I would like to say yes, no. There are thousands upon thousands of teenagers who are far more qualified to vote than a majority of voters. Unfortunately, there are way too many ignorant teenagers as well, even though they likely wouldn't vote anyway.

If you know what most 18 year olds are interested in ( I remember what I was interested in ) then you know that most of them arent mature enough, lowering it wouldnt be a good thing.

no i think will the coddling kids get from parents and the poor education that they receive doesn't allow them to make to correct decisions at the age of 18 I'm in favor of raising it to 21
