It is good to see differences of opinion and different ideas. A checks and balance system is good if used correctly. Even the Jane Fonda's of the world have some good ideas or what they say may bring a mild upbeat twist to what we actually do in some countries. We absolutely need to support our troops and a free way of life. I did 22 years in the armed forces and I feel I contributed to making the US even better because people have the right to question what we do. We may not like it and it may be wrong, but in some small way it may even keep the good folks in a sort of check mode. Even the best of us could take advantage of some things if we had no one watching. I think what Ms Fonda did was absolutely despicable and we as a society may have been looking for "A better Solution" and she may have taken advantage of the position she was in at the time. Who knows just my idea there. But bottom line is yes we do need to support our troops. It also baffles me as to why they are protesting the way they are. It almost seems like they missed something along they way and are complaining about things that make no sense. Like trying to tell a story when you only read half the book per say. I was coming out of an Air Force base last week and about 6 blocks from the base I saw signs that said support our troops and beep your horn....to bring them home and stop the war. I almost beeped my horn. The way they worded the sign seems like a dirty trick to try to get you to beep your horn thinking you would not see the rest of the sign as you drove by. I observed the heavy traffic going past them for about 3 minutes and NO ONE beeped their horn.

I see both sides of this. I am not happy there is a war, I understand it though and I am so very grateful for our troops. I don't mind the protesters, but I wish they would have signs saying, "Not for the war, but we support our troops". I have written to soldiers in this war and Dessert Storm. They see the protesters and think that nobody is supporting them, that people think they are a joke. Wouldn't it be nicer if they could see that people might not be happy they are there, but are grateful for those troops because they are the reason they have the right to protest? Just a thought.

Fools? Some of what you call fools are the parents of a fallen
soldier! They have every right to protest against the worst president known worldwide. There will always be fighting over there. Then the other "fools" are protesting for the removal of Bush and everyone else that put us in the middle of it all! Our president just today said," we need at least 6 more months before we can pull out. How many soldiers do you think is going to be killed while waiting for this government to get off their ***? TOO DAMN MANY TO COUNT!

Funny thing.
Those leftists who claim to support the troops really don't. They make blatherings about bringing them home but in reality the Left has decided that U.S. troops are the ultimate tool in convincing others that this war is unjust. It costs them nothing to say it, but they NEVER back it up. I've never seen a leftist at a rally for our troops (not the war, for our troops). I've never seen them at some of the drives that have been organized to send some of those homey supplies and comforts (AA batteries, coffee creamer, cards. et cetera). Why? Because it is all talk. It is just a tool to use against the Bush administration.
They should be ashamed. I find their behavior to be a lie. These are the people who have been trashing the military for years, prohibiting ROTCs on campuses, protesting military practices as "homophobic" or "sexist", campaigning against tax breaks for military families AND against salary increases for military personnel... until, magically, the Iraq War of 2003.
What a crock.

Sadly, San Francisco's liberals and democrats think that us proper and sane republicans are hateful, murderous and are warmongers, which is not true, because we just want our country safe from terrorism. We should care less what goes on in other countries!!!!! Think of our own and if another country's citizens can't get along and want to start civil unrest, let them! We're not here to hold people's hands, just to eliminate the people that eliminated and terrorized our citizens.
I support our troops, dislike liberals who are scared to protect our country and hope that we can end this conflict and not run away like cowards. Who cares about how Geo Bush runs this country????? As long as we're not in martial law, a dictatorship (like most liberals want to live under) and are free/safe, I'll always love and support this country and it's government.

The support or non-support of U. S. troops is an emotion-based issue, rather than an information-based one. As such, emotion clouds the real issue of how and why those troops got to Iraq in the first place. By becoming informed we can begin to understand that WE are the ones who are ultimately responsible for sending troops to fight. Every time we climb into a gas-guzzling SUV we send a clear message to our armed forces (and the government that deploys them) that OIL is precious to us, more precious than their lives. It is more our unquenchable thirst for oil than terrorist activity that sends U.S. troops to the Middle East or most anywhere these days. The events of 9/11 were merely an excuse to cover up the real issue, the one that none of us in this country want to hear. We are far too reliant on oil and too selfish to give up our dependency on it to accept the real answer, and so we accept that it is all about the "war on terrorism". For more information on this and related subjects I urge everyone to read "Oil: Anatomy Of An Industry" by Matthew Yeomans. Knowledge IS power.

You can support and believe in our troops and still think that the war is wrong. It seems to me that the best way to support our troops is to get them the heck out of Iraq!

Many "pacifists" are for peace...Personally i think We could not allow a madman like saddam Hussein to reign. You dont have to look very far back (hitler) to see wat happens when the world lets a barbarian do what he pleases. Iraq still needs some work, Terrorism is widespread and we have to finish the war we started 16 years ago (gulf war)

Protesting the war is supporting our troops.
We want them to come home before Bush gets more of them killed for his oil.

They have never seen the movie "Red Dawn." I don't know why they don't understand--or BELIEVE--if we don't fight the war over there we will be fighting it here. Seriously, watch "Red Dawn" and then say that's just not possible.
