I do not wish to pay for truck driving school again, as I already paid $4000.00 once. I simply let my licence lapse in 2002 and wish to get it back again. I have 4 years of OTR trucking experience and still have the necessary skills to operate a truck safely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are looking to go back OTR, call the company you are interested in and see what they can do for you. Schneider, JB Hunt, Swift, and others all have different driver programs. They need drivers and will get you behind the wheel quickly, especially if you can document your experience.

homeward07 is sorely misinformed. If that was your experience, then it is because that is how you wanted to live. I have been driving for over 22 years now and that is not my work environment, or life style. Your comments are just stereotypical tripe. Sit down and be quiet, the adults are talking here.

To rent a commercial vehicle, the driver must be licensed to drive it. No license, no rental.

Truck driving schools take a refresher class and rent the truck. About 600 bucks.

There are companies that rent tractor trailers. For example Ryder, Penske. Give them a call. Also, call a trucking school to see if they have single sessions that you can 'buy' so that you can practice before re-doing your road test. They also may be able to help you in re-certification.

Seek counseling, please.

No one in their right mind drives a truck nowadays. Why would you submit to daily abuses, living in fear of ego-maniacal cops, incurring the risk of aneurysms every time you approach a Weigh Station and getting DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) from sitting so long?

Is it the urinating in gallon jugs that you miss? Do it at home. Perhaps the big belly? Eat and lay down.

Maybe the filthy clothes and missed showers? Just turn off your hot water heater.

Truck driving as we know it, is about to end, because the Feds have declared war on the final cool job on earth..so now is not the time for you to enter the fray.

They have what you might need, but if your license is expired, I don't think they will let you rent one. Give them a call.
