Because of the printing process. Books are printed in 16 page sections which are placed one on top of each other in order after the large page of printing is cut and folded. They are then stitched or glued together. So books are always in multiples of 16 pages. 16 pages is called a "signature". You can see this by taking a book and holding it by the spine and letting it fall open. You will notice it falls into clumps of pages. Each of those clumps is one signature. If an author's book is not an exact multiple of 16 pages, there will be blanks at the end. C.

You've already got the answer. Any paper that is folded, as with books makes 4 pages...books are made up of sections ...all multiples of four pages, the blank pages are when the writing doesn't divide into groups of four.
This is not the writer's fault that there are empty pages. With magazines it is best niot to leave any blanks, but in a book, a page or three blank is not a problem.

when you put a book together you print the pages that are corresponding and you fold all of the pages in half and the story is in order of course
because the pages are folded and the first few pages are printed on but there are no corresponding pages about the story they leave the other half blank thus leaving blank pages at the end

When a book is printed, several pages are printed on one large sheet of paper, which is folded and cut by machine. If there isn't an even number of pages to fill the paper, there will be blank pages at the end.

Books, like newspapers, are printed four pages at a time - front, back and a fold - if the number of pages is not divisible by four you get blank pages.

I believe sometimes it's because they need an even number of sheets to make the book. Sometimes, the author or editor wants certain pages on certain sides of the page, so they make it just so, and then have blank pages to make up for it.

The text of a book cover even pages. Add index, copyright, references, glossary, etc, and you have extra or uneven pages. This imbalance is accommodated at the back of the book.
