Sometimes my gelding will put his nose up to my mouth and wait for me to blow in it. When I do he seems to like it and blows back....what does this mean?

If you ever noticed--it's one of the first things horses do with each other whether it's a new horse or an old friend that's been gone for a littlewhile! They want your scent and they never forget it--good or bad!!

When horses touch noses and breathe into it it's a way of saying "HI!" "I love you" or "I have missed you"-- or sometimes all three! It's a great way to bond and connect with your horse, and have some snuggle time: I love it!

It is a form of communication. Animals operate and communicate differently from humans. We rely on voice and language. Our brains are different. We can use language and words, they can't. It does not mean they are stupid or can't communicate. Your gelding is using your breath and the smell of your breath to identify you and communicate trust.
