First of all it could be a number of different things.
Firstly, gold fish are prone to change color, even black spots depending on lineage. (nothing to worry about)
Secondly your fish could have ammonia/salt burns. If your water ammonia level is below a 2 chances are this isn't it. A 20-25% water change will clear it up.
thirdly- Black spot - Usually these spots are seen as the fish is healing from ammonia surges. The area that was burned will turn black and this is the healing sign. The spots should fade within about 2 weeks. Orange Goldfish will sometimes turn black on their back and sides. After about 7 days the patches disappear and the fish appears orange. This is known as "Melanophore Migration" and is usually caused by any type of chemical irritant or traumatic injury. Some very common causes: high level of ammonia, low pH, flukes, or ick. The black color will not show up until the irritant is removed and the skin begins to heal. However if there are snails in the tank or the fish are living in ponds you should read below.
These spots could be from the pigmented cysts that contain the larval stage of a trematode intestinal fluke. Symptoms: Small black or brown spots up to 2 mm (0.08 inches) across. These spots appear on the body and fins of the fish and sometimes on their mouth and eyes. Treatment: Modern anti-parasite treatments should kill the parasites. The spots once formed may remain on the fish.
Since we cannot see him, I would recomend a 20-25% water change to start. Watch him closely.

hm, Well, when my fish died my mother said it was a sickness called Ink. I think that's what she said. I would ask a local pet store what it is, just to be sure. Or you could surf the Internet on websites that could help. Good luck, and I hope your fishes will get better.

Sorry to hear that. He's probably sick and you need to call a pet store that has gold fish and ask them what it might be. It definetly doesn't sound normal.

that sounds like ammonia burns, you need to do some water changes, with fresh clean water. and get some quick cure, and something to help with the clear coat. you will also need to salt your aquarium accordingly with aquarium salt to ward off infection. but do your water change immediately!!!! salt will also clear up any fungus/parasites that may also be causing this, but it sounds like ammonia burn.. you will need to get an ammonia/nitrate test kit...
