I have discovered two great bands, Red Hot Chili Peppers (about a year ago) and Pearl Jam (more recently). They are both amazing bands and I can't believe that it has taken me so long to learn about them.
So, my question is:
Why has nobody told me about these bands and are there any others I shoul know about!?

Okay, okay, so maybe RHCP and Pearl Jam are really famous. I HAVE heard of them, I just never stopped to listen to them. Besides, I'm not that old!

Be glad you know about them know, even if it took awhile. I've been a huge PJ fan since the early 90s and a Chili Peppers fan for a little longer than that. I'm not sure how old you are, but most of my younger sister's friends (she's 19) haven't heard of Pearl Jam, and only a select few know the Chili Peppers. It seems today's top 40 overpowers everything else in the music world, and they only know recent bands.
If you like those two, you might also like Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Candlebox, Silverchair, Alice in Chains, Our Lady Peace... I could go on and on.

Probably because their best years are behind them. Sure, they'll put on a kickass show in concert, and have so-so good radio hits, but, admit it, you want to hear Jeremy from Pearl Jam and Higher Ground from the Chili Peppers, not whatever they've got on the radio now.

Sorry, I kinda figured that RHCP and Pearl Jam were well-known, otherwise I would've told you! As for other bands, have you ever heard of Nada Surf or The Pixies? If you haven't, you should give them a shot.
