Depends on what state you work in. Some states must pay you within 72 hours from teh day you quit. Others have until your next pay period. Check with your local department of labor for specific wage practices for your state:

The normal maximum of time is 2 weeks. Everybody who quits their job is required to give two weeks. But if you give your 2 weeks notice before the payperiod is up, then you wait.

Laws vary by state, but it shouldn't be longer than a couple weeks or the next regular payday, whichever is later.
