i think disrespectful is a perfect word to describe it, it is not illegal but is rude and a player would probably be fined, obviously catchers do it, but that is a different situation. Players also sometimes wear hats backwards during the hr derby (ken griffey jr.), but that is obviosly an exception

Yes, they could wear them backwards. Many players wear them backwards at practice, and in the dugout. The reason they don't do it on the field, is because of team policy. Different teams have different policies, but many of them are the same. For example, NY Yankees do not allow long hair on their team. That is why Johnny Damon had to cut his hair when he went from BoSox to Yankees.

In some cases, a rotator cuff tear might require arthroscopic surgery. Symptoms of a torn rotator cuff include pain when moving your arm away from your body, pain that is accompanied by weakness, difficulty sleeping on the injured side and pain when lifting objects overhead. Fortunately, not all rotator cuff injuries result in a complete tear. Minor injuries can be treated with anti inflammatory medications, ice and strengthening exercises.

The rules state that the hat is part of the uniform. You must wear a hat or you cannot play.
