Whites started calling them that word so blacks started using it as a endearment.

Its a word that should've been left in history and not used today.
Kids do it because they hear it in songs and think its cool.
Its not.
Especially if you don't want other races to say it, what would be the point of promoting it and saying it yourself? Doesn't make much sense to me. Its a bit hypocritical too. Calling out anyone that says it and then turning around and using it like its nothing.

Also, black people using the word is a way of diffusing the negativity it carries. Kind of similar to the way some queer people use the word "queer". It attempts to take the power away from those who would use it to degrade.
