This happened with my first child as well; after that I always made sure to check the fingers, toes, and even the boys' genitals (heard a horror story about THAT once!) when I couldn't figure out why they were fussing or crying.
I use a natural salve (Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment) with comfrey or a calendula first aid cream, although Neosporin is the more popular choice for many. I like herbal remedies and natural things, though, especially for my babies.
You may want to call your dr. and do a phone consultation, so you can describe the cut to him/her. If it sounds even slightly infected, you may need to take him in, but a wait-and-see approach may be all that's needed.
Best of luck! I hope it heals quickly....

of course it will heal, actually this happens alot, it did with me anyways, as i have very very long hair! It would always get wrapped around their tiny toes or fingers, Ive gotten to the point of checking all the time now :) It will heal though. Obviously if it was painful, he would have been crying. Babies know pain and when there is pain, theres crying :) Try to keep it moist, with some neosporen or um vaseline or something of that nature, and it will be just fine.

I use Neosporin for everything. I had never heard of the hair around a toe before but a Dr. told me about that happening once when I took my daughter in she had been crying and we did not know why, that was not her problem, but that was the story she told me. If you can I would still have a Dr. look at it due to him being young and not chance an infection.

If it is really cut that deep you need to bring him in. Even if it looks fine right now, it can still get infected. I would not take a chance and risk him getting an infection and getting sick.
P.S. I have heard of a cut happening this way but I don't think it is very common. It can happen though.

Aww, poor thing, call the dr and they can tell you. Or put some baby neosporin or something like medicine aloe vera on it, aloe heals and helps things not to scar, my parents have grown it in the backyard since I don't even remember, so I get it for free and put it on my scars, it really helps!
