We have to do one indoor pe lesson every week without shoes and socks. The floor is always cold and dusty and is also used for lunch and is never cleaned! We've got it tommorow :(

Is anyone else in the same position as me? What shall I do about it?

No, I liked it... if I even gave it any thought at all that is, for I didn't really think about what to wear or not to wear on my feet back in school. But PE is normally taught barefoot here in the Netherlands, and I sure didn't mind. Outdoors we had a choice of going barefoot or wearing sneakers and I usually went barefoot unless it was very cold.

But our floor wasn't dirty either; we weren't even allowed to step on it with shoes, if we'd forgotten something inside we either had to take our shoes off again or ask someone from the next class to bring it to us. Eating lunch in the gym, the teacher would've had a heart attack if he'd seen anyone with food, crumbs or other stuff that could spill in there, LOL!

Btw, it's not dangerous or unhealthy, as I said going barefoot is the norm here, I can't recall ever in my school years or afterwards hearing of a single foot injury from PE, and kids do *not* have a lot of athlete's foot here either. But as I said, we do keep our gym floors clean! I think the best advise I can give is indeed to address that issue, tell them it's dirty, see if you & a few friends can sweep it if no one else does!

Tell the PE teacher (who should know this) the dangers of going without shoes and socks. You could get a foot fungus, or have something lodged in your foot and get infected.

Or ask if you could wear sneakers or sandals or something. Maybe your paretns could write you a note?

Grab a broom and sweep it before class... suit up and get out there early!
