a good talker or a good listener? Why?

I think that the two go hand in hand. "listen to understand, and then speak to be understood."

I'm more like a good listener. I like to hear what people have to say, and think about it before I respond. Good talkers are great but sometimes they don't listen because they are so busy talking!

I am more of a good listener. I am a people person in general and because of my varied background and experiences, I can relate to a lot of the issues that people have. Many times, people don't want a bunch of mumbo jumbo, suggestions or advise. They just want somewhere to vent. Many people just need a sounding board and I believe I'm good at that. Some need a shoulder to cry on, and mine have been wet many times. Sure I can offer suggestions or advise, as I do on YA many times But I'm a better listener than a talker.

Is there such a thing as a good talker? I believe to make a conversation more engaging with another person and to show compassion you have to learn the language of silence and be an ACTIVE listener.

i think any normal functioning person needs to be a good talker and listener in order to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with other people. i'm not sure if you got it from the speech but yeah i'm a talker who hopes to achieve the talent of really listening to other people and not just hear what they say.
TALK, TALK ,TALK.....
