Usually the baby at this stage is very very small. Here shortly if you haven't already through ultrasound, you should see a heartbeat. The baby is very very tiny at this time. By 10 weeks it is only the size of a peanut. Between 5-7 weeks you usually could see a heartbeat by ultrasound but would not pick up a heartbeat by doppler until later. I would speak to your doctor. Your hcg levels sound good. As I said, I would definitly speak to your ob doctor and ask him/her about this.
21 weeks pregnant with girl who only showed heartbeat via ultrasound. Didn't hear doppler until 16 weeks and now have a healthy baby girl due Aug 2nd.

Yes, that is completely normal. A lot of people have spotting around the time they would be expecting their period, and if you are around four to five weeks that would be at the right time. If it is anything more than just spotting though, I would go back to the ER. Cramping is also normal in early pregnancy as your body prepares for your growing uterus it pulls on the ligaments that support the uterus and that causes the cramping. As long as it is relatively mild cramping, similar to menstrual cramps, that is normal. And at this stage in pregnancy, it is also very normal to only see the gestational sac. It is first possible to see the baby and the heartbeat and the yolk sac around 6 to 8 weeks. I would personally say that as long as your spotting stops and your cramping isn't too severe that everyting should be fine. I would go in for a follow-up ultrasound in a couple weeks to make sure that everything is progressing as it should. Your HCG levels also sound great for this time in pregnancy! That is a good sign! Have you had multiple betas done? If so, you want to see them double every 48-72 hours this early in pregnancy. The actual number isn't as important as if they are doubling as they should be. I hope this helps and good luck!!! By the way, I am 5weeks and 5 days pregnant with my second baby!

It is sometimes very hard to see a baby at that far along. Your levels sound good. I think everything should be fine
Sometimes the body is still adjusting too being pregnant and may lightly spot and cramp almost as it thinks the body should be having a period. It may be just that. The body getting used of things.
Also if you had sex 24-48 hours before it can cause slight bleeding a cramping.
I am surprised and saddened the ER doctor couldn't tell you more. I have experienced that and it can make you very anxious without a proper answer
I wish the best for you

At this stage all that you would see is the gestational sac, later in the week they would start to see a little more, like the fetal pole, and then usually at the very beginning of week 6 the heart starts beating. The current science states that around an hcg of 914 you can start seeing the sac, around 3700 before you start seeing the fetal pole, and even higher before cardiac activity (heart beating).. so I assume they gave you a diagnosis of threatned abortion and sent you home to rest. I'm sorry, I'm sure you are stressed out, but make sure you follow up with more blood work and another ultrasound.. best of luck to you

I have my first ultrasound at 7th week. I was able to see the baby's head and body (about 1 inch only); most important, the ultrasound could detect the heart beat of the baby.
I also had lots of spotting during the early pregnancy. But everything turns out okay.. Just keep checking with your OB. Good luck!!

I would say that its probably to early to see the baby, though i dont have experience with this, i know when i had an ultrasound at 10 weeks it was very very hard to see the baby even then. It just looked like a little ball. Tiny ball actually. Im sure you will have a follow up ultrasound in a few weeks, and im sure things will be fine. spotting in pregnancy isnt that uncommon. It happens alot, in fact 80% of the people that have spotting, or threaten to miscarry DONT. so i wouldnt worry at this point :) Congrats and goodluck!!!

the usual ultrasounds are 'quite secure' meaning they don't pose a 'major' chance to the newborn. the benefits basically outweigh the hazards. nonetheless, you would not have ultrasounds until eventually necessary as they truthfully at the prompt are not without chance. bear in options years in the past in addition they idea x rays were secure.. those days a minimum of maximum medical doctors do allow you to know about the hazards of ultrasound. a minimum of mine did. 4 continues to be interior secure limits. yet stay faraway from those new 3D ultrasounds.. they use a mega dose of ultrasound and they don't look secure. there has been a lot controversy and many places are refusing to do them, in undemanding words the more beneficial earnings oriented places. bypass ahead and performance this ultrasound... 4 is superb.

It is to early to the baby at 5 weeks the baby is just as big as a seame seed. I had an ultrasound done a 6 weeks and a couple of days old, because of bleeding and cramping. The doctors thought i had a miscarrage because i was bleeding and having clots. but, here I am today 29 weeks and 3 days pregnant with a lil boy. check out the website below and get more information that you need

i am just at 7 weeks pregnant today. had my first ultrasound yesterday. the baby was like a little dark coloured ball with a strong fluttering heart beat. thats the only reason i knew it was the baby. but i had a small amount of bleeding around my gestational sack, dont know if anyone else has had it or what it is but if you have heard of it or had it please reassure me that my baby is ok.
