No, her mom is just dead on Hannah Montana. Miley was telling M magazine: Fans are always sending me fan mail and telling me how sorry they are about my Mom. I was like, no, my Mom's not dead! She's alive and well! My Mom is ALIVE!

Miley's Mom IRL is very much alive.
Cyrus was born in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. She attended Heritage Middle School but she now has a private tutor. She grew up on her parents' farm in the backwoods of Nashville. Cyrus is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia "Tish" Cyrus.

I think that she is because in an interview that was done with Miley she said that she never takes off her moms wedding ring. So if her mom was alive i think that she would be wearing the wedding ring instead of Miley. I also read that Miley's nickname "Smiley" was changed to "Miley" after her moms passing.

nah. just in the show. ive heard her say in her inerviews that her mom and her dad support her alot...so that makes her alive!
